5 Easy Steps To Create a Cohesive Instagram Feed

If you are planning to create a cohesive Instagram feed you should know that it’s actually easier than you think.

You don’t need to be an experienced designer or have a professional photographer next to you all the time.

At Bloom Your Biz we are always working on our cohesive Instagram feed and we love it! So we are here to show you the 5 steps you need to follow if you want to have a nice feed.

But first, let us explain to you why this is important.

Why Creating a Cohesive Instagram Feed is Important

Your Instagram feed doesn’t need to be pretty and cohesive in order to convert, that’s for sure.

But if you want to build a long-term brand and present yourself as an authority in your industry then a consistent and nice-looking feed is going to help you.

People are going to start recognizing your posts, colours, fonts, and topics… Your BRAND! And that’s amazing.

That’s how you build a loyal community that loves what you do and that’s the goal, right?

Now let’s get into the fun part.

5 Steps to Create a Cohesive Instagram Feed

As we told you before, this is not rocket science. You don’t need to spend HOURS and hours working on your feed.

You just need to establish a good foundation to set yourself up for success.

So these are the 5 steps that you should follow in order to create a cohesive feed.

01.

Create Branded Templates to use in Feed and Stories

Again, you don’t need to be a professional designer here.

Canva is here to save your life! There you have thousands of templates that you can modify and use. If you haven’t already checked out Canva, you need to right now! We opted for Canva Pro so that we could take advantage of the additional features, like the ability to upload your own brand fonts, and a multitude of other design features.

Once you select a template style, modify them to match your brand colours and brand fonts, and use and reuse them again and again.  This will save you time and make your feed look more consistent.

02.

Select and Stick to the Same 2-3 Brand Fonts

This is crucial if you want to create a cohesive Instagram feed and a consistent brand. You shouldn’t change your fonts every time you do a post because once selected, your fonts will strongly represent your brand personality.

You need to find a different font for your headlines, subheadlines, and body text. Once you check how they look together you can apply them to ALL your posts, stories, even to your website and your products…

You can use them everywhere (and you should!)

03.

Use the Same Filter or Editing Style on All of Your Images

If you want the same tones in your images, you have to edit them in the same way.

Using a different filter every time will cause the inconsistency that you are trying to avoid.

In most of the editing tools, you can save the style and apply it to other images, which is a lifesaver in these cases.

04.

Select Only Images that Contain Similar Colour Palettes

This is self-explanatory but for example, if you are using nude colours you should stay away from images with bright reds or blues, trust us, it’ll stick out like a sore thumb on your feed.

Choose your colours carefully and create a balance to make your feed look cohesive.

05.

Maintain a Nice Balance of Content Styles

When we say content styles, think quotes, educational content, images of you, portfolio items, testimonials, the list goes on! Once you select which content styles are the best fit for your offerings, create a balanced amount of each style of content, and sprinkle them evenly throughout your feed.

Remember, simply using the same type of content, again and again, might result in a repetitive look, rather than cohesive.
