How to Transfer Ownership of a Wix Website

Transferring ownership of your Wix website allows another Wix account to become the primary owner of the site while preserving all of its content, design, and settings.
This is commonly done when handing a completed website over to a client, transferring a website between team members, or moving ownership to a different Wix account.
In the steps below, we'll walk you through how to transfer ownership of your website in Wix.

From your Wix Dashboard, click the three dots beside the website you'd like to transfer.
Select Transfer Site from the list of options.
Follow the prompts to enter the email address associated with the new owner's Wix account and send the transfer invitation.
The new owner will receive an email asking them to accept the transfer. Once accepted, they'll become the owner of the website.
A Few Things to Keep in Mind
The recipient must have a Wix account (or create one) before they can accept the transfer invitation.
Website ownership is not transferred until the invitation has been accepted.
Site transfer invitations expire after 30 days. If the invitation isn't accepted within that time, you'll simply need to send a new one.
If the website includes a Premium Plan and/or connected domain, Wix will ask whether you'd like to transfer these to the new owner as well. If you do, the recipient will be prompted to enter their payment details so billing can continue seamlessly at the next renewal.
Once the transfer has been accepted, the new owner will have full control of the website and can continue managing it from their own Wix account.
